 Red XIII - Final Fantasy VII
A member of an unknown race of intelligent beasts with characteristics of both a cat and a dog. Red XIII's real name is Nanaki, and after Cloud's group frees him from his imprisonment in Hojo's lab, he offers to help them on their journey. He acts very mature, but by his race's long-lived standards he is still just a child. This child-like nature is made more apparent when he is around his so-called "grandpa", the elderly scientist Bugenhagen. Because of his connection to Bugenhagen he is very knowledgeable about the Planet and has a strong desire to protect it.
