 Garland - Final Fantasy IX
The mastermind behind much of the deeper goings-on of Final Fantasy IX. He was created to be the overseer of the sleeping Terran race, waiting for the time when he can complete the fusion process between Terra and Gaia, and revive his fallen civilization. He is also Kuja's main adversary, and his defeat is the motivation for much of Kuja's actions throughout the game. Garland seems indifferent to Kuja's struggles for the most part, and patiently waits in his castle of Pandemonium for the time when he can finally complete his mission and rest himself. He is later shown to not be an uncaring entity, and fervently leads the party on to their final battle in Memoria.
